To counter Apple iPhone 8 & X, Samsung introduces latest flagship mobile Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 plus in India. Both devices are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 9810 chipset. The phone will be available from 16th March at various online and offline stores. Samsung also collaborated with Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel to offer on data related services to customers.
“Galaxy S9 and S9 plus are smartphones in a class entirely of their own. With this launch, Samsung will further consolidate its position in the flagship smartphone segment in India. Through our partnerships with leading operators consumers can experience data speeds like never before for faster downloads and uninterrupted streaming,” said Asim Warsi, senior vice president, mobile business, Samsung India.
Samsung Galaxy S9
Samsung Galaxy S9 comes with 5.8 inches Super AMOLED 18.5:9 with a resolution of 1440 x 2960. For Indian variant, This phone is powered by Samsung’s octa-core Exynos 9810 chipset & for China & USA variant, Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 845. The phone also comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, 3D Touch (home button only).
On the camera side, the phone comes with Dual Pixel 12MP AF sensor with a dual aperture (F1.5 mode/ F2.4 mode), with OIS for video recording. The secondary camera comes with 8 MP (f/1.7, 25mm, 1/3.6″, 1.22 µm), autofocus, 1440p@30fps, dual video call, Auto HDR.
The fingerprint sensor has been moved below the primary camera. Apart from that, the phone also comes with iris and facial recognition for enhanced biometric security. The 3000mAh battery will provide 22 hrs of talk time.
The S9 will be available in a price range of Rs57,900 for the 4GB/64GB variant, and at ₹65,900 for the 4GB/256GB version.
Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus
Obviously, it is the bigger version of Samsung Galaxy S9, comes with 6.2-inch display with a 1440 x 2960 resolution. Chipsets are same as S9, the phone comes with 12 MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto lens. You will find the fingerprint sensor below the primary camera. The 3500mAh battery will give you 25 hrs of talk time. The S9 plus will be available in a range of Rs65,900 to Rs72,900 for 6GB/64GB & 6GB/256GB variant.
Both S9 & S9 plus comes with Android Oreo out of the box. You can also get 6000 Rs cash back if you purchase with the Paytm Mall or HDFC debit and credit cards. Additionally, you can also get 6000 Rs cash back if you exchange older Samsung devices for the new S9 and S9+.
